Benefits of Pruning

There are many reasons to prune trees and shrubs. Woody plants should be examined annually. The best times for minimizing the stress of pruning are during late winter and early spring. In the case of evergreens, the best time for pruning is in late spring.

Pruning is important to establish the initial form of the plant. This also makes the plant more attractive and healthy. For many trees, it is desirable to maintain main scaffold branches and a single central leader. Some older shrubs can be rejuvenated by cutting the plant to an 8" height or thinning out older, larger branches annually to allow for new growth.

Micro-Injection and Deep Root Fertilization

Dan's Custom Landscapes also offers micro-injection and deep root fertilization. Micro-injection is the process of injecting fertilizer and/or pesticide directly into the tree. This allows the applicator to use small doses and eliminate the risk of a non-target attack. Deep root fertilization injects fertilizer directly into the tree root zone, bypassing competition from grasses and allowing both to thrive.
